Overview

Mining is a Chrome extension that helps you capture selected text and write memos, then save them as Markdown files into a user-selected Obsidian vault folder.

This extension does not sell user data, does not run ads, and does not use analytics trackers.

Data We Handle

Mining handles the following data only to provide its core features:

• Selected text you explicitly choose and add via the browser context menu.
• Memo data you create (title/content) and metadata (source page URL and title).
• Obsidian vault folder permission/handle you explicitly grant (used to write Markdown files to your vault).

Where Data Is Stored

Mining stores data locally:

• Chrome local storage (extension storage) for memos and minimal settings.
• Browser storage (IndexedDB) for the Obsidian vault folder permission/handle.
• Your local filesystem (your Obsidian vault) when you click save/export.

Mining does not transmit your memo contents, selected text, or browsing data to any external server.

Permissions We Request (Why)

The extension requests these permissions to support the features described above:

• storage: store memos/settings locally.
• contextMenus: add the “Add to Mining” right-click menu.
• activeTab: read the active tab context on user action.
